You are invited to Cape Town for the WPA International Congress with the theme “Psychiatry: integrative care for the community” hosted by the South African Society of Psychiatrists. The WPA-TPS was able to submit 5 symposia, which have all been accepted. Some of the symposia are organized in cooperation with the World Association of Cultural Psyhciatry. One symposium is a joint symposium with WPA section on Religion, Spirituality and Psychiatry. The presentations cover many fields within the transcultural psychiatry. The themes are : People On The Move; Asylum Seekers And Refugees ; Religion, Atheism, Culture And Psychiatry In A Globilised World ; Cultural Identity And Etiologies In Dsm5, In Research And In Clinical Practice ; Cultural Perspectives On Psychotic Features, Biological Markers And Drug Use ; Do We Understand Each Other ? Indigenous Views, Culture, Communication And Social Support In The Light Of Trauma And Acculturation.
Besides the symposia above there will be many other presentations with subject related to our field of interest : Transcultural Psychiatry.
