Goran Mijaljica, M.D. is a trained psychiatrist currently working as a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Transcultural Center, Region Stockholm, Sweden and Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen, Norway.
Goran´s clinical work involves psychiatric evaluation and treatment, as well as individual psychotherapy for patients with traumatic experiences related to war and torture. At the Transcultural Center in Stockholm, he mainly works with questions related to psychological trauma, especially war trauma, and transcultural psychiatry, and takes part in training other healthcare professionals in the field of transcultural psychiatry and psychotraumatology.
Goran is the course leader for the course Anxiety disorders, trauma and stress related disorders for residents in psychiatry on a national level, and has organized and participated in other trainings and workshops for mental health professionals in trauma and PTSD at the regional and national level in Sweden.
Goran taught medical ethics at medical programs at the University of Split, Croatia, and University of Gothenburg – Sahlgrenska Academy, Sweden, and has been appointed a member of the World Health Organization ́s Ethics Review Committee in 2022.
He served as a UN Volunteer – Medical Officer in the UN peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
